Job Summary:

Our Data Transfer Services (DTS) is looking for a Product Owner to manage a range of data product development projects. This Product Owner role is a key position that defines and directs delivery of the data transfer services, as ElectraLink transforms its business. The role has been established to operate within the Cost Recovery Services (CRS) team and will be responsible for the development of new products and services maximising the capability of the DTS.  

As a Product Owner, you will be managing a range of product development projects, from simple enhancements to innovative new solutions, working with third parties and internal teams to improve the data transfer services for the energy market. The Data Transfer Service (DTS) is a core component of the GB energy market and ensuring that it can continue to serve the future requirements of the industry is a key objective for the Product Owner.  

What you’ll do:

The role involves the Product Owner being in a highly directive role across the entire platform to cover these activities:

  • Develop the product technology and customer roadmap and progressing the plan.  
  • Act as the key bridge between the Solution Architect, customers and delivery partners. 
  • Be a technical advisor to the product analysts, customers and the delivery partners. 
  • Consolidate work on technical issues and create a common technical backlog for the entire team. 
  • Engage the relevant internal and external development teams to deliver the product enhancements. 
  • Take ownership of the innovation pipeline as related to new CRS products.  
  • Work closely with Senior Management to create and maintain a product backlog according to business value or ROI.

Your typical week might be:

  • Manage relationships with internal and external clients related to the product roadmap.  
  • Plan and prioritise product feature backlog and development for the product.   
  • Assess value, develop cases, and prioritise changes to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value.  
  • Provide backlog management, iteration planning, and elaboration of the user stories.  
  • Lead the planning product release plans, and set expectation for delivery of new functionalities.  
  • Provide an active role in mitigating impediments impacting successful team completion of Release/Sprint Goals.  

Skills & Knowledge you will need:

  • Previous working experience as a product owner, technical lead and/or significant experience in a technical management role.  
  • Deep understanding of digital product development and experience of data and networking products.   
  • Knowledge of Agile processes and principles. 
  • Outstanding communication, presentation and leadership skills.  
  • Excellent organisational and management skills.  
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.  
  • Creative thinker, coupled with a drive to deliver working product.  
  • Attention to detail and the ability to critically evaluate project and development plans.
